IMSL's magnetic proteins have a variety of applications, the most
obvious use being in separation of specific molecules and cells
displaying those molecules on their surface.
The metal core can be detected by a variety of biophysical methods such as MRI, so IMSL is developing the technology further for diagnostics uses.
We are particularly keen to leverage the in vivo potential in diagnostics (imaging) and therapeutics (thermal ablation). Our magnetic proteins are very small (they're nanoparticles) so we expect they will penetrate areas that larger particles cannot access. And, being completely biodegradable, we anticipate that our product will have an excellent safety profile.
